Dec 3rd, 2024 - Trump provides us with a great example of his grift with his tariff bluster on Mexico.
The Anatomy of the grift:
He blows hard about a 25 % tariff on “all products” from Mexico until “Drugs, in particular Fentanyl and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!”, leaning into the immigration and fentanyl hysteria and fear he’s drummed up for years
A few days later he proclaims on social media, with hyperbole as always, that the Mexican President has “agreed to stop Migration through Mexico, and into the United States, effectively closing our Southern Border.”
The orbiting grifters sing Trump’s unearned praises for shit he hasn’t done:
Ted Cruz: says the tariff bluster “immediately has produced action”
Sen Joni Ernst: “Thank you, @realDonaldTrump for doing more to secure the border in the last 30 days than President Biden has done in the last four years.”
Trump and the grifters proclamations are UNTRUE, Mex. Pres. Sheinbaum, has to reiterate that nothing has changed in Mexico’s policy after the tariff bluff, and she told Trump that Mexico is already “taking care of” migrant caravans (migrant arrivals at the border have already dropped 40% due to Biden admin actions) and stated “We reiterate that Mexico’s position is not to close borders but to build bridges between governments and between peoples,”
Revealing his lack of creativity and nuance, this is not the first time Trump has tried this scam.
Claims the tariff threat caused Mexico to enact dramatic new curbs on immigrants

He claims an agreement made with Mexico includes “secret benefits” for the American people that he can’t disclose yet
“It was all done because of the tariffs”
“We do not have a specific agreement on products of that nature...There is no other thing beyond what I have just explained”
Trump and his family launched a cryptocurrency project, World Liberty Financial, in Sept 2024, bringing the first family of grift into the one of the world’s largest swindler communities
As Trump’s crypto project is arranged, the Trump family is set to receive 75% of the net revenue

Trump’s crypto project was flailing at the time, World Liberty Financial had only sold roughly $24 million in tokens, falling short of a $30 million threshold that would allow a Trump-owned company to begin collecting “75 percent of net protocol revenues”
Shortly after this “investment”, Sun’s own crypto, TRON, sees a 100% surge in one day, netting Sun a multi-million dollar gain
